We’ve all seen the buzz around Hollow Knight: Silksong today, with the game even causing issues on storefronts like the Xbox Store—a clear sign of just how high the demand is. That’s why it feels unusual that no reviews were available at launch.
According to reports, Team Cherry—the studio behind the game—chose not to send out review codes in advance. The decision was made both to honour their Kickstarter backers
and early players, and to ease the team’s workload leading up to release.

Since critics haven’t had the chance to publish reviews for Hollow Knight: Silksong yet, the earliest feedback is coming straight from players. And given the game has only been live for a few hours, these reactions really are first impressions.
So far, the response looks very promising. On Steam, the game has already earned an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating, with players sharing plenty of praise. Social media is buzzing with excitement too.
