Xbox fans had a bit of a surprise this weekend when a notification popped up on the official mobile app claiming that Supermarket Simulator was already available on Game Pass. The message turned out to be a mistake — but it may have spilled the beans on what’s to come.

Why This “Error” Matters
Games don’t typically launch on Game Pass over the weekend, which makes the timing of the alert a clear slip-up. However, these kinds of accidental notifications have a track record of hinting at future releases. For example, the same thing happened with Shadow Warrior 3 in 2023, as well as with Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Editions and Maquette — all of which landed on Game Pass not long after.
A Viral PC Hit Ready for Consoles
Supermarket Simulator has already made waves on PC, where it’s earned a “Very Positive” rating on Steam across more than 30,000 reviews. Players step into the shoes of a small store owner, handling everything from stocking shelves and managing the cash register to hiring employees, expanding the business, and even keeping an eye out for shoplifters.
Developer Nokta Games confirmed earlier this year that the title is also coming to consoles, with a multiplayer mode currently in development. That makes its eventual appearance on Game Pass feel more like a “when” than an “if.”
What’s Next?
While no official release date has been shared yet, the accidental notification suggests that we may not have long to wait before this quirky but addictive sim hits the subscription service.
