8BitDo Unveils Ultimate 3E Controller for Xbox, a Fully Modular “Pro-Level” Gamepad

The team at 8BitDo has officially revealed its latest Xbox-focused controller, the 8BitDo Ultimate 3E Controller for Xbox. Marketed as a “pro-level” controller designed for “serious players,” the Ultimate 3E is positioned as one of the most customizable third-party Xbox controllers announced to date.

According to the company, the controller has been “designed by pros” but will be “defined by you,” with a heavy emphasis on modular hardware and fine-tuned performance options.

The Ultimate 3E Controller for Xbox offers a wide array of swappable components and advanced internal hardware. Highlights include:


  • Swappable ABXY modules, with both silicone and micro-switch options

  • Multiple joystick configurations, including:

    • Two standard joysticks

    • Two tall joysticks

    • One thick-neck joystick

    • One dome joystick

  • Two premium metal D-pad options (standard or circular)

  • TMR joysticks paired with a 12-bit ADC sampling chip for improved precision and stability

  • RGB Fire Rings that provide real-time visual feedback

  • Up to 1000Hz polling rate on PC, both wired and wireless

  • Hall effect impulse triggers with dual trigger stops

  • Remappable fast bumpers

  • Integrated wireless charging dock

Xbox and PC Compatibility


The controller supports low-latency 2.4G wireless connectivity across Xbox and PC platforms. Officially supported systems include:

  • Xbox One

  • Xbox Series X

  • Xbox Series S

  • Windows PC


The package includes a 2.4G wireless adapter, USB cable, charging dock, and an accessory kit containing:

  • A standard D-pad

  • A micro-switch ABXY module

  • Tall, dome, and thick-neck joysticks


PC players also gain access to 6-axis motion controls when using the controller in 2.4G wireless mode.


Price and Release Window


While a specific release date has not yet been announced, 8BitDo is currently targeting a Q2 2026 launch, with pre-orders expected to open in the near future.


The 8BitDo Ultimate 3E Controller for Xbox will retail for $149.99 USD.
